“Modern and cost-effective warehouse” for passenger car tires to streamline logistics and supply-chain
Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres is building a ‘modern and cost-effective warehouse’ for passenger car tires in Nokia to streamline its logistics and supply-chain processes.
The new facility will enable the Finnish tire maker to centralise warehouses, which are currently located in different parts of Finland.
Set for completion by the end of 2027, the unit will be build on a plot of land owned by Nokian and adjacent to the company’s existing logistics centre.
The project will improve competitiveness by improving the efficiency and delivery-reliability of Nokian’s Finnish factory, said its statement issued 25 March.
All passenger car tires manufactured at the plant will be placed in the new highly automated warehouse before they are delivered to customers globally.
At a later stage, management of raw materials and heavy tires produced in Finland will also be moved to the expanded logistics centre.
The project will enable efficient operation of the Finnish factory and reduce transport between production and storage, explained head of global logistics Miikka Kunnari.
The facility, added Kunnari, will comply with Nokian’s environmental certification requirements and reduce CO2 emissions from it’s logistics operations in Finland.
