Polish map from 1976 depicting the start of WW2 and “subtly” trying to minimise Soviet involvement

  1. Reposted here because I think it’s a very interesting piece of history. In this atlas from 1976 the authors are obviously subjected to the official soviet ideology and try to minimise the impact of soviet involvement in the invasion of Poland. An explanation to the map says that they merely intervened to protect the Ukrainian and Belarusian minorities living in Poland (i.e. the classic narrative when it comes to justify their actions before 1941).

  2. Well, the whole lot of publications in the period was doctored. Those maps were the norm, not an exception. There were books, TV, murals, etc., a full matrix.
