This is fantastic news for those on benefits in Scotland. The Red Tories are doubling down from last week’s announcements of forcing disabled people to work in excruciating pain or starve and stating that their cuts did not go far enough.
great another thing they will blame the SG for
Read my lips 💋
The SNP, Greens, Welsh Labour and LibDems might ask what this means for devolved budgets. Let me be very clear: this will have no effect on the 07/08 Holyrood budget. This does not change the Senedd budget for 14/15.
“Labour” (They really have no right to call themselves this anymore and should stop pretending) are destined to be a one term government if they keep going on the same trajectory.
No wonder so many people are so disillusioned with politics and believe that all politicians are the same. No matter who is in power, we just get more cuts and decline.
Why haven’t they learned the lesson that austerity just leads to further economic decline?
They are paving the way for Reform and fascism.
If I said what I thought of these cunts I’d probably get banned.
It’s entirely ideological. Expanded ToryLab austerity and it’s *very* interesting to hear the OBR’s take on this this morning. That these ToryLab governments would happily grind the economy to dust to punish the disadvantaged, and people still believe them when they say it’s *for* the economy, shows how politically and economically illiterate the UK is.
Remember – they are only cuts when they cross the border.
Apparently in Labour La La Land – it is “reduced spending”
Classic Tories.
Red Tories.

So, are they finally taking all the “Welfare” the ultra rich get?
What’s left to cut?
War on the poor continues I guess.
Reeves will be gone soon. She’s fucked it.
Nothing like a random use of Caps to make a point
I read a girl saying that because she has anxiety and adhd she takes Ubers everywhere instead of the bus . And I’m paying for that nonsense.
I don’t mind and I advocate for kids not to live in poverty, for pensioners to be fed and warm at all times, for disabled people to have access to whoever is needed.
The problem is that there are too many people on ”benefits” who don’t need it. It’s that simple and Labour needs to just say that and then move on.
It’s the economy, stupid!
The cabinet’s is just continuing a trend started back in the labour leadership bid that got starmer in charge of labour.
Lie through the teeth, play on labour nostalgia, backpedal every promise once free of oversight/comeuppance.
its because they’ve co-opted the labour name, purged anyone who actually is traditional labour(you know what the party was formed for) and puppet the name.
The rich and powerful knew the Tories were dead in the water, so they pumped their influence into the only other party that could win and took control.
> The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has assessed that changes to benefits will save £3.4bn in 2029/30 rather than the £5bn claimed by ministers.
>The chancellor faces pressure over the performance of the economy, with growth remaining sluggish. But Reeves will argue the UK has to “move quickly in a changing world” and will confirm a £2.2bn increase in defence spending.
> The increased funding will be invested in advanced technologies, including new energy weapons on Royal Navy ships.
It will also be used to provide better homes for military families by refurbishing the defence estate, and help fund upgrades to infrastructure at Naval Base Portsmouth.
The poor and vulnerable having to pay for it as always
Weird, I remember these pricks promising no cuts
What an absolute legend. Who else is buzzin for everyone to be poorer?
Didn’t we just send 12.8Billion to Ukraine??
Miniscule cuts over a five year period? I would love it if they were actually slashing welfare the way that people on here are making it out, but it’s really just a reflection that the UK is a poor country that cannot sustain the level of social spending we currently have. And in any case, the middle class do not get access to much of the benefits that they are financing, so I’m fine with this.
Seriously, if the public don’t get involved we are going to be right royally fucked. Reform will continue to grow and it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a Tory/Reform coalition. If that happens say goodbye to everything that hasn’t already been sold off.
>But late on Tuesday, it emerged that she would widen her cuts to welfare after the OBR, which monitors the government’s spending plans, estimated the already-announced welfare system reforms would not save the £5bn as planned.
>The reforms include stricter tests for personal independence (Pip) payments, affecting hundreds of thousands of claimants.
>But, it is understood the OBR assessed that many claimants facing losing health-related benefit payments would instead claim for more severe conditions.
Those evil severely disabled people claiming what they’re entitled to and harming Reeves’ fiscal rules! /s
They give you a vote so you think you have a choice!
