    The Netherlands and Belgium are the latest two European countries moving to update their travel advise for the United States for LGBTQ+ citizens.

    The Dutch foreign ministry’s travel advise portal still marks the U.S. as a safe country to visit, but tells people belonging to a sexual minority: “Please note that laws and customs in the US towards LGBTQ+ persons may differ from those in the Netherlands.”

  2. When European countries start issuing travel warnings for the US, you know things have really gone full black mirror. Usually it’s the other way around..“don’t go to war-torn X, Y, Z”… now it’s “avoid America, it’s a bit too shooty right now”

  3. On Fox Noise (not my choice, playing in the hotel lobby), they are whining that travel from Canada has dropped significantly in February. I guess when you are a dick to the rest of the world, people don’t want to visit you.

    On a positive note, we will see more Russian tourists this year…

  5. This is stretch. The US has warnings against France as well. The US is huge. There’s areas in Houston that are dangerous but I drive around everyday, no issues. The average person does not care about politics. I’m currently working in the affluent areas of Houston. The exclusive clubs. A small group of wealthy people that run the club were having a meeting with the contractor. One of them was going on about his travel itinerary to 3 different EU countries in a couple months.
    Me, I’m not rich. Im a blue collar guy and it looks like work is slowing down. Trumps move to me are not good for business.

    On a world stage, I believe the man has some skewed views that the rest of the world has screwed the US over somehow. His circle is full of these narcissist radicalized people who want to burn down world order for some “better deal”.

  7. The article is partly true, they don’t go into the details that I’ve read in Dutch news.

    If you have an “X” as gender in your passport, all of the US is warned about (as only M and F are recognized).

    If you are part of the LGTBQ+ community, it’s just some states you should avoid.

  8. Surprised the warnings are not broader… the various europeans detained by ICE were not even LGBTQ+ folks… from what I gather, even people who simply expressed negsative opinions on Trump cum sui were sent back…

  17. As a Belgian, I like to interpret the title as the Netherlands saying they are considering a travel warning to Belgium as well.

    (probably because our roads are hell for caravan tires)

  24. Here in Florida our local business owners are already asking where all the tourists are at this year. Our beach town has seen an obvious decline this spring break season

  25. If you weren’t out of the USA on January 20th, 2025, then congrats. You’re stuck here.

    At least we can solace knowing that we’ll soon be speaking Chinese (for the global trade language) and/or Russian (for our local language) and we can call ourselves bilingual.
