The most acutely dangerous radio-isotopes are those with short half-lives and those have mostly decayed by now. No doubt, digging up dust there isn’t healthy, long-term.
But acute radiological poisoning? Doubtful. You could visit the “elephant’s foot” for a short time without serious health consequences. And that was much more dangerous than the “red forest”.
if there wasnt for the western media to point out that, they wouldve died right there and no one wouldve thought about it, at least in russia.
The whole mess around those trops with rad poisoning originate from one Belarus TG channel, that reported that it saw the busses with soldiers at local radiology center, there are no further evidences of that, so far. Of course, being in the Red Forest can’t be good for your health, but I kinda doubt that they indeed had to dig trenches there, it was more like ride through it, breathing in the dust. But with Russia it’s always who the fuck knows lol
