Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic continues to show his prowess in front of goal, with his latest strike for Croatia Under-21s helping them get their hands on a trophy.

There is understandably a lot of excitement about Luka Vuskovic at Tottenham even though the Croat is yet to step foot at Hotspur Way.

The centre-back will link up with the Spurs squad for the first time this summer, but in the meantime, he is continuing to turn heads with his impressive displays on loan at Belgian side Westerlo.

What is particularly fascinating about the 18-year-old is that he has already shown a goal scorer’s instinct, which is not a quality that one would expect to find in a centre-back.

The defender has found the back of the net seven times in 27 league games for Westerlo this season, and he added another goal to his tally while on international duty this week.

Vuskovic goal helps Croatia Under-21s lift a trophy

Vuskovic started for Croatia’s Under-21s against Thailand’s Under-23s in Doha on Tuesday and played all 90 minutes as the European side emerged 3-1 winners.

Croatia fell behind to a 56th-minute penalty, but Lovro Zvonarek equalised 15 minutes later before Luka Vuskovic put his side in front on 75 minutes.

The win was sealed when Mate Antunovic stepped up to convert from the spot in the dying stages of the game, with the 3-1 victory seeing the Balkan nation being crowned the champions of the International Cup U-23, a four-team tournament which also featured Australia and Egypt.

Tottenham delighted with Luka Vuskovic transfer decision

The signing of Luka Vuskovic certainly appears like an inspired move from Spurs, given the way the teenager has kicked on over the last 18 months.

It was reported last month that the Tottenham recruitment department are over the moon with their decision to sign Vuskovic, with the club’s decision-makers very impressed with how he has progressed at Westerlo.

The same update explained that it was Spurs’ former scout, Leonardo Gabbanini who recommended the signing of the centre-back, and the Lilywhites are convinced that they have a ‘top talent’ on their hands.
