  1. Think it’s an absolute disgrace that it has to come to groups and some politicians signing letters . Fina useless are both out of touch with a large part of the Irish population . Let’s have another think in to see why our poll numbers are dropping instead or actually being productive on this issue . Drug policy is comptley out of touch with reality and having a huge negative impact on irish people and irish society.

  2. Cowards. Hiding from their responsibilities to the people that elect them. This prevailing backwards attitude towards this topic, and the refusal to address it is a cancer/shame on society.

  3. Still no idea why we have citizens’ assemblies. It’s just a cowardly way of moving difficult decisions away from the Dáil, you know, our actual elected citizens in an assembly.

  4. Id love to go to the citizens assembly on drugs ‘and here we have paddy who’s about 10 lines in and just smoked a jint to talk about flower pots’

  5. Ah yes. Drugs. Well known to improve societies. Never a junkie to be seen and zero cases related to alcohol in the regional courts that I’ve seen.

Joe Rogan is a visionary, etc.

  6. All of what ya just said is absolute nonsense but sure there’s always a few who love the awl pointless nonsense . Not even minding the importance of some of the group who has asked for a citizens assembly. What’s clear is the current approach doesn’t work . To look at one aspect of the argument although there are so many is looking at fact based evidence around cannibas legalisation in Canada and many states in the us where tax revenue is used to fund society rather than scumbag gangs such as the ones in Ireland . Instead Irwland decides to use a road side drug test that actually picks up canniabas use when drivers aren’t even impared . Safe injection sites such as the ones in Vancouver have dramatically reduced the impact of drug death on people who typically have had a very hard life especially when vulnerable kids such as abuse leading to their struggle and entrapment with drugs . But ya you keep Going with your alcohol and courts rant !

  7. Cannibis needs to be legalized, if we go half arse it and decriminalize it we’re setting ourselves up for a shit show explosion in criminal gang activity.

Legal to possess but not legal to buy? Such a stupid concept… Where are people going to possess it from?

  8. I think a citizens assembly is a fantastic idea for a complex and divisive issue such as this. The idea of legalising or decriminalising certain drugs can sound outlandish to some, especially those who have seen the devastating effects of drug abuse. So without properly informed experts presenting impartial evidence in a forum like this, it would be unlikely that any such idea would gain any traction here. It would be rife with misinformation and sensationalised fake news. Bring it on I say.

  9. Honestly at this stage I don’t care if they legalise it. Medically it will be good but I just know for that average person it’ll be taxed so fucking high people will just go back to dealers. If you think the price on drink is bad you know they’ll ruin weed with it.

  10. The ‘war on drugs’ mantra was doomed from the start. A new approach has to be taken. We were always led to believe the ones benefiting were all criminals but that’s just not the case. When money is involved it’s never that clear cut or simple.
