UK government instructed PPE suppliers to prioritise English NHS settings over Scotland and withdrew embassy support from Scottish government officials negotiating PPE deals in foreign countries.

  1. The SNP should make that clip their advert for the next election.

  2. I’ve never been particularly PRO independence. I think Scotland could go it alone, but it’s so open to abuse, it probably wouldn’t work for a long time.

    However, fuck this noise.

I’d vote independence based off that one finding.

  3. Wasn’t this debunked at the time as somebody explained in the other thread on this topic?

  4. Get this on billboards all over the country for the next election

  5. [Here’s **The National** (so a pro-Indy paper) on it](https://www.thenational.scot/news/18389497.ppe-scottish-dentist-saw-england-only-stock-back-march/)

    > Wiltshire-based Gompels Healthcare said the “restrictions” on some of its stock limiting sales to customers registered and operating within England were due to “criteria given to us by **Public Health England**”.
    >
    > Managing director Sam Gompels explained **that the items involved had come from a stockpile held by that agency,** much of which was past its sell-by date but had been retested and verified safe to use during the pandemic.
    >
    > The businessman said that because the PPE had been supplied by a body which serves England only, it would not be right to allow the materials to leave that country. “We ran out of stocks a month ago,” he told reporters. “Public Health England [PHE] were kind enough to supply some to help care homes. But the emphasis was on English care homes. I somehow can’t imagine Scottish health authorities supplying English care homes, to be perfectly blunt.
    >
    > “**The fact is Public Health England got their finger out and organised these distribution channels and are getting pilloried for it because Public Health Scotland [PHS], or whatever the equivalent is, have not necessarily organised the same and that’s probably the nub of it.**”

So PHE had arranged a stockpile, and had issued instructions on who could use their stockpile, i.e. English bodies.

The fact that Scotland may or may not have had a stockpile, is down to NHS Scotland & the Scottish Government who are responsible for the devolved department.

If NHS England had undertaken any action, for Scotland without the written approval of Scottish Ministers, then people would be screaming this is an attack of devolution!

  6. This is absolute rubbish of a tweet.

Health is devolved and PHE is an English body.

They stockpiled PPE for English NHS Trusts and carehomes to use, because Health is devolved and it’s up to Scottish bodies to stockpile for Scottish trusts.

And despite devolution, PHE didn’t block Scottish trusts from English stockpiles, they still allowed access with priority to English trusts, and care homes because *it is an English stockpile*

It’s not PHE or England’s devolved department’s fault that the Scottish Equivalent did not have the same in place, and it’s ludicrous to attack England’s devolved departments to act and prioritize people in England, even at the cost of people in Scotland, because that’s how devolution works.

  7. When the fuck will Scottish wake up and see how we are disregarded time and time again. Fucking better together aye right.

  8. How is this even a surprise? It’s been the English monarchy, and subsequently, government modus operandi from day dot. They want our resources, they don’t give a flying fuck about who turns it into profits for them and will do whatever it takes to insulate themselves from dire consequences. See the great famine.

  9. This was actually reported on at the time, but Westminster denied it and anti independence voters cried fake news.

Not surprised it has now been found to be true.
