For about 7/8 years now I’ve been collecting and posting spelling mistakes/unusual wording/sign oddities and here are some of my favourites.

  1. An unusual hobby, to be sure, but as the gas man in Bottom said, “It takes all sorts, don’t it?!”

  2. Can you describe the thrill you attain when you find one of these gems please?

  3. For the life of me I couldn’t see the error on the first picture. Then all of a sudden it was there and I couldn’t unsee it.

  4. Sign in a window where i deliver reads

    Please leave parsils in porch

  5. I love typo spotting. I look for them in every menu. Recently I spotted the great sentence “many of our dishes can be adopted for allergies”. The thought of adopting (instead of adapting) my meal gave me a quick smile.

  6. What’s wrong with the Beff burgers….they taste so much better than the beef ones!

  7. There used to be a gay bar near where I live and they had a sign on the front door during the day that read “Please deliver large packages to the rear entrance”.

  8. Sandwich shop near my old work had “FRESH BAUGETTES” and would be annoyed when we asked about the flavours of baugettes they had.

  9. Back in the days when I had Facebook I made the mistake of light-heartedly ribbing someone for trying to sell something they called a “Chester Drawers”. Facebook doesn’t do humour apparently.

  10. I have an amazing one with a menu that offers a “burger on a bum”.

  11. My favourite was at the local market “flease jackets”

  12. I presume that middle one intended to look for a kitten porter?

  13. My favourite, during lockdown, the post office was closed ‘due to the currant situation’.
I imagined some poor old lady in the back stuck under a sack of dried fruits 🤣

  14. Get to your local PC World/Currys ..they currently have big posters near the checkout with “received” in big blue letters. It hit me immediately, the guy on the till smiled and said, “You’ve seen it?”. We are about same age, late 50-s, he’s worked there 30 years easy, he said all the younger staff didn’t even notice or seem to know it was a typo at all.

  15. Sandwich board outside a country pub. On one side it said, “Sunday Carverery”. On the other side it said, “Sunday Cavery”.

My favourite though, is the Burger King sign that was supposed to say “Try our new Angus Burgers”. Alas, they’d missed the ‘g’ out of “Angus”.

  16. My favourite that I found was a place that sold “Sweet tea” and “Unsweeteded Tea” 😂

  17. I was once driving by a place near Lakenheath and at the crossroad was a sign for Baptist church. Except the bottom bit had faded away
    So it now said
    ‘Rapist church’
I can only find a blurry streetview on maps annoyingly

  18. There’s a cafe not far from me that offers cheery pie. And there used to be a pet shop a few towns over that sold hamisters and buggerigars.

  19. A neighbour of mine has a “do not empty your dogs here” sign in front of their driveway. Do you want a picture of it for your collection?
