2. Well I guess the US is not getting those 20k euro/usd VW and Renaults coming in the next few years. Not that they were going to be sold there anyway but at least not now.

   Cars have been inflated in price to hell after Covid and US is already struggling with stagnating sales and peaking car debt that was given out too easily due to Covid boosts. This will just mean nothing in the US market will be left except high cost Teslas and some American brands that have largely discontinued smaller and cheaper cars in the US already, like ford which basically sells smaller cars only outside the US.

   And so the cost of living continues to rise. Way to fuck yourself over. Average new car price pushing 50k usd in the US btw in a car centric society.

3. I hope Europe will respond adequately to this. I do not want a tariff war, because it won’t benefit anyone, but I also want that Europe send the right message clarifying that he is not the king of the world.

   EU and UK car tariff is 10%

   The US current car tariff is 2.5%

9. New cars are already soaring in price in the U.S. Also the cars made here are terrible. If Ford and Dodge want to compete with Subaru and Toyota they should make better cars. Parts for non-U.S. cars are going to skyrocket in price too. So thats just great. 🙄

    This increases the US retail price by 25% of vehicles such as European (or other foreign) made VW BMW MB.

    This is a disaster to Canada. We feel that we are on a war footing with the US as this will drastically affect our economy.

    We are considering retaliatory tariffs on US imports to Canada on luxury, high profit items, including liquor.

    Luxuries that we Canadians can do without, but economically affects the US.

    This angers Trump and he is threatening a 50% tariff on Canadian goods, which is pointless because 25% will kill our trade anyway.

41. What this knucklehead doesn’t realize is that no cars are made in the US. They are assembled from parts made all over the world, parts that will still be subject to tariffs when they are imported. I think he believes this will bring manufacturing back to the US, but imagine moving your company back to the US based on this nimrods whims, and then a few years later he disappears and you’re left completely uncompetitive with the world market.
