The laws themselves may not have changed since leaving the EU, but the electorate was told by many Leave campaigners that replacing British workers with foreigners was something that we couldn’t stop when in the EU and something we could stop if we left.
No. P&O saw a chance to replace their workforce with one that accepts pisspoor pay and seems to be getting away with it.
No. Both Brexit and the P&O story are caused by the same environment.
The legality of P&Os tactics is irrelevant to brexit. The decline in P&Os trade is however largely as a result of brexit.
Brexit was always going to be detrimental to anyone working in international trade
Cant be, David Davis said there would be no downsides to Brexit only considerable upsides.
Tbf this has been happening in the software industry for decades. I worked for a place for 15 years and in that time they built up the development team in India, made the UK developers hand over their knowledge then made them all redundant. Slow burn. 50-60 developers, testers etc gone over the course of 10 years.
Of course costs dropped off a cliff but then so did quality, leading to the cost of support, maintenance and repair sky-rocketing .. as did clients desire to look elsewhere.
Good try has already been stated that it’s not down to Brexit
No. Its a result of the tories, slowly but surely removing all rights from the average working man.
