Are the P&O Ferries mass sackings a result of Brexit?

  2. The laws themselves may not have changed since leaving the EU, but the electorate was told by many Leave campaigners that replacing British workers with foreigners was something that we couldn’t stop when in the EU and something we could stop if we left.

  3. The legality of P&Os tactics is irrelevant to brexit. The decline in P&Os trade is however largely as a result of brexit.

    Brexit was always going to be detrimental to anyone working in international trade

  4. Tbf this has been happening in the software industry for decades. I worked for a place for 15 years and in that time they built up the development team in India, made the UK developers hand over their knowledge then made them all redundant. Slow burn. 50-60 developers, testers etc gone over the course of 10 years.

    Of course costs dropped off a cliff but then so did quality, leading to the cost of support, maintenance and repair sky-rocketing .. as did clients desire to look elsewhere.
