Turkey braces for third day of protests over Istanbul mayor’s arrest • FRANCE 24 English
Turkey braced for a third day of protests on Friday, as anger simmered over Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu’s arrest in a graft and terror probe and ministers fired warnings over the mass rallies. The popular Imamoglu, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main political rival, was arrested at dawn on Wednesday, just days before he was to be formally named the candidate for the main opposition CHP party in the 2028 presidential election.

Wtf is wrong with european puppet media? Why do they not use the name EKREM IMAMOGLU? Many news and not a single title with Imamoglu. Same with DW. How much erdogan paid you to not to write Ekrem Imamoglu's name and instead say erdogan's rival?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
For chair ,Dictators become Cruel😢😢
yeaaah, we dont want zelenski derivatives in turkey. you should focus on ukraine, not turning Turkiye into ukraine.
The irony of all this is that Erdoğan never graduated from university. He went to an Islamic Imam Hatip high school and then played semi-pro futball. His University degree from Marmara University in 1981 is fabricated. He says he studied Economics and Commercial sciences. That program didn't actually exist at the university until 1982. And he is such a hypocrite. He was arrested and imprisoned in 1999 by the government and now he's doing the same to Imamoğlu. When will Turkiye actually be a true secular democracy? So far, it never has been.
Though Erdogon is a DESERT FOX in political terms, yet his day to come down is around as authoritarianism does not last forever.
Turkish people just want freedom and democracy.

Isn't Trump frightened?
Not rival but a robbery team leader suspect detained. Noting more, no more meaning… not that much big event but ordinary investigation to a suspected team leader and team 😊
Erdogan doesn't have a diploma himself, never been able to prove his degree despite the on-going pressures to do so. Kind of funny he's trying to get his opponent on that, the pressure must have been traumatizing for him. His entire presidency is null and void, Turkey has been lead by a non-president all this time…
The cases in Türkiye were the result of CHP members taking their disagreements to court. The complainants are their own people. The cases have nothing to do with Erdoğan and the AK Party
Turkey's left party is not the same as the US and EU countries; they are nationalists, and they don't like immigration. Left in the West supports Islamists, while the Turkish party CHP is the opposite. They are very secular nationalists. Like MAGA in the US
Support Erdogan president turkiye
❤🇹🇷İMAMOĞLU ❤️ 🇹🇷
What can anyone expect from a Moose Lem country.
Erdogan evel
to note that it is also about money, taking control of big budget of istanbul municipality
Why ALL bots with Arab names supporting Erdoggan??? they are NOT even Turkish —– Lmao
As a Turk, I must say that your media is exaggerating. The reason for İmamoğlu's arrest is corruption. Along with İmamoğlu, 100 other people were arrested. In fact, the brother of the religious teacher's son-in-law is among these people. İmamoğlu was previously called to testify. And he was released. If he is innocent, he will be released again. There were only demonstrations in İzmir and İstanbul and everyone dispersed. Actually, it is not very important. In fact, this has nothing to do with İmamoğlu's own close circle, namely the government, who reported him.
I am not someone who supports Erdogan's government and to be honest, 52% of the people chose him. He is not a dictator. He is the person chosen by the people.
France braces for protests.
Free Falistina,"
Demonstration of " democracy " by Turkey
I thought they didn't allow protests in Islamic countries.
Don' t forget Turkısh students. Wuppertal us
This is one of the most objective analysis -calm, measured and mostly accurate. I don't think these protests are wide spread and are likely to diminish within a few days. Once the main rival is removed from running the path will be clear for the ruling regime to continue unopposed until …..
People dont trust anything in Türkiye. Bad economy, bad justice , bad immigrant politics etc. So they wanted to decide their destiny themselves.
Turkey is a middle-Eastern country which has never been a real democracy
Erdogan, the "Mayor's Terminator".
Imamoglu Mayor and main popular opponent is not the first one, The Turkish gov has replaced several elected Mayors all across the country. Always with Terorrism accusations and some others
well people waiting… main protest force will be later.
Erdogan is killing people in Türkiye for his own benefit. Europe, Erdogan is the enemy of human rights. Come to Türkiye shoulder to shoulder with us and save us from this murderer, please
Thumbnail should say Corrupt mayor of Istanbul has been detained.
The people want white law and justice🇹🇷🇹🇷🤍☀️🪷💥

Erdoğan doesn't have ANY DEGREE either!
Erdoğan did the same to Kurdish opposition leader DEMİRTAŞ. He has been in jail for 9 years, while being innocent! Thousands of innocent people are in jail.
turks want to walk into the hands of the enemies of turkey to destroy the country from within. sure they can call upon their western enemies for democracy and rule of law after the enemies have fragmented the land, left the country industrially poor and turned turks into beggars.
its gonna be hard to criticize erdogan after the things happened in germany and before that france. i mean if these countries do it then erdogan will be encouraged to do worse. china does it, u.s. does it, russia does it… you guys set a great example for him and he follow your footsteps. heard any german politicians criticizing him? how can they? heard macron? he gotta be shameless to say a word. so yeah.
There is no democracy in Turkey
