Recent reports reveal that Turkey has deployed troops and military equipment at the Menagh Military Airbase in northern part of this country.

Israel and Turkey may attack each other due to this country, its not Lebanon or Gaza, the name is…
Turkey’s role in Syria has been expanding significantly ever since rebel forces took control of certain regions. Interestingly, Syria, which was once considered Turkey’s biggest enemy during Bashar al-Assad’s regime, has now become a key area of interest for Turkish officials. However, Turkey’s increased presence is causing tensions with Israel.
The situation stems from Turkey’s support for the rebel leader, Ahmed al-Shara, who played a major role in seizing parts of Syria. In return for Turkey’s backing, Shara opened up Syria to Turkish influence. As a result, Turkey is now strengthening its military presence in the region. However, Israel views this growing Turkish influence as a threat and is pushing back against it.
Recently, Syria and Turkey signed a military agreement. Under this deal, Turkey has pledged to help the new Syrian government rebuild its military, providing training and weapons. Syria, in turn, is expected to buy large quantities of arms from Turkey in the coming months.
Despite this partnership, the international community has not recognized the new Syrian government, which makes it difficult for Turkey to officially sell weapons to Syrian rebels. However, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan remains firm on supplying arms and deepening military cooperation with the rebels, despite facing potential diplomatic hurdles.
Turkey expands military presence in Syria
Turkey is steadily boosting its military presence in Syria by establishing bases at key locations. According to several reports, Turkey plans to set up multiple bases using infrastructure at Syrian airfields, particularly in the Palmyra region, including the Palmyra Airport and the T4 airbase. This move is part of Turkey’s broader strategy to increase its aerial and ground operations in Syria.
As part of its efforts, Turkey has also assisted in the rehabilitation and operation of Damascus International Airport. Additionally, Turkey’s support for the Syrian National Army and other groups operating under its command in northern Syria is widely known.
Military expansion in Northern Syria
Recent reports reveal that Turkey has deployed troops and military equipment at the Menagh Military Airbase in northern Syria. This base is located approximately 35 kilometers north of Aleppo and just 13 kilometers south of the Turkish border. The base, now functioning under Turkish-Syrian collaboration, has reportedly been upgraded with new radar systems, air defense units, and other military equipment. This expansion is aimed at enhancing Syria’s airspace surveillance and control capabilities.
Tensions with Israel on the rise
Turkey’s growing military footprint in Syria is becoming a major concern for Israel. There have been reports of Turkish and Israeli fighter jets coming face-to-face in Syrian airspace in recent weeks, although neither country has officially confirmed the incident.
However, Israel views Turkey’s support for Syrian rebels as a serious threat, particularly to the security of the Golan Heights. The area, which Israel seized during a previous conflict, is heavily militarized with newly constructed bases. Israel fears that Turkish military aid to Syrian rebels could destabilize the region and jeopardize its hold over the Golan Heights.
