I created a QR Code for an Einschreiben with 50g and stoppen it off at a Post Bank Filiale. The Person at the Counter scanned it and have me the receipt to track it. I tracked it. On Wednesday it said delivered. On Thursday it was back in my mailbox. What did do wrong? I printed the address readable. The Absender is small and my address, the big Uni address is where it should be delivered. Feeling helpless as those are important documents and I don’t know what I did wrong. (I know about the irony of my username…)

  1. (By creating a QR code I mean purchasing the thing via the Post website and printing it)

  2. 2 Options:

    1) Value of stamps was not enough

    2) The recpient refused to accept the letter.

  3. maybe because it was Einschreiben and there was no one there to sign? I know some government offices ask not to send Einschreiben in some cases. was it the type they need to sign, or “Einwurf”?

  4. if you paied 3,30 for the whole thingy, you paied for a 20g “Standardbrief”+Einschreiben, which might be not enough. this is weird, i would expect that they tell you the reasoning on the letter.

  5. First idea: It’s too big for a Kompaktbrief. According to [https://shop.deutschepost.de/briefporto](https://shop.deutschepost.de/briefporto) the max size for that is 23,5×12,5x1cm.
Wasn’t there a sticker on the envelope with the reason for sending back?

BTW: even as a native speaker I think the deutschepost website is a PITA…

  6. I’ve had this happen before and went to the post office to complain and they sent it for free via express to make up for their mistake.

  7. If I remember correctly, the 50g is for a „normal“ sized letter you fold three times, just more letters. You need a stamp with more value, the „Großbrief“ for 1,80 €.

  8. Maybe their scan thing somewhere in the delivery chain misjudged the size of the packet, locking only on the white part. Then the recipient address would be outside of the scan area, it didn’t register it properly and the packet went back.

  9. You sent it as Kompaktbrief when you should’ve sent it as Großbrief. Usually they put a sticker on your letter before sending it back, but guess they forgot.

  10. U have to do this stuff with paper?! Kinda cool but my uni just did it all online 🙂

  11. I sent letter with my absender and empfänger details and guess what. I got my letter back 2 day later. They mistakenly sent me my own letter
