Τα δεδομένα αφορούν το έτος 2021.Στο 2022 ως τώρα σε κάποια κράτη ίσως άλλαξε κάπως η κατ΄άσταση (π.χ στη Ρωσία είμαι βέβαιος ότι για το 2022 το χρώμα της θα είναι ίδιο με της Κίνας ή της Αιγύπτου και αυτό διότι η κυβέρνηση Πούτιν εκμαιταλεύθηκε την Ουκρανική κρίση για να θέσει υπο πληρη και απόλυτο κρατικό έλεγχο (ουσιαστικά να κρατικοποιήσει) και τα ελάγχιστα τελευταία κάπως ανεξάρτητα ΜΜΕ.Σε κάποια άλλη χώρα η κατάσταση ίως βελτιώθηκε λίγο.Πάντως αυτός ο χάρτης είναι τα πιο πρόσφατα δεδομένα μέχρι να δημοσιεύσουν οι δημοσιογράφοι χωρίς σύνορα τον χάρτη του 2022.

Τι να τον κάνεις τον κρατικό έλεγχο αν τα μέσα ελέγχονται από τον Rupert Murdoch. Ίσα ίσα βλέπουμε κρατικά μίντια όπως ερτ ή bbc να είναι πολύ πιο αντικειμενικά από τα ιδιωτικά. Μέχρις ότου τα ΜΜΕ ανήκουν μόνο στους δημοσιογράφους, χρηματοδοτούνται μόνο από τους αναγνώστες και το κοινό έχει αρκετή παιδεία για να αναγνωρίζει και να απορρίπτει εντυπωσιασμους και στρατευμενες ειδήσεις το μόνο χρώμα που θα έπρεπε να υπάρχει είναι το βαθύ κόκκινο.

The Greek public TV channel, which has been directly controlled by the prime minister although the supreme court ruled this to be unconstitutional and is now overseen by the Deputy Minister to the PM, censored reports on the new migrant camps. In Athens, police obstructed photo-journalists covering a commemorative event at the end of 2020 and roughed up a reporter for supposedly violating Covid-19 rules, briefly detaining him. There is concern about the new rules for policing demonstrations, because it designates areas for the press. In April 2021, the community of Greek journalists was shaken by the assassination of the reporter specializing in crime issues Giorgos Karaivaz.
