The glaciers on Mount Kenya’s peaks are melting away • FRANCE 24 English

Mount Kenya rises to an altitude of 5,000 metres, making it the second-highest peak in Africa. However, for several years now, the glaciers it harbours have been disappearing. According to experts, the effects of climate change caused the largest glacier, the Lewis Glacier, to lose nearly 90% of its volume between 1934 and 2010. This glacial melt has significant consequences for the region’s wildlife, flora, and human inhabitants.

  1. I live in Nanyuki, Mt Kenya has not changed one bit since the 90s. Sometimes there's much snow during the rainy season , sometimes there's little.Lets stop the fear mongering.

  2. But even Kilimanjaro snow does reduce during the hottest season. There's nothing new here, come back when the cold season starts you'll be shocked!

  3. We should have people with better understanding of the phenomenon and communicate with a good command of spoken language of choice. This is a very important feature being referred here. Kamaaan.😂😂😂

  4. They will be back as soon as the rainy season is back. We know climate change is a ploy for NGOs to eat money addressing a problem they cannot solve

  5. Sad about the melting glaciers , but the snow does come back and heavy during the cold season. people who live around that mountain know this
