The Montana World Affairs Council hosted its third annual Energy Forum, featuring Jennifer Warren, a leading entrepreneur in energy and tech.

For the third year in a row, Warren traveled across the state to educate students and professionals about the growing demands on energy resources due to the expansion of digital infrastructure.

During her visit, Warren spoke at Gallatin, Bozeman, and Hellgate High Schools, as well as Montana State University and Carroll College, highlighting the intersection of energy resources and the digital economy.

She explained that both traditional and renewable energy sources, such as oil, gas, wind and solar require significant resources to build infrastructure, including data centers.

“Even renewable energy sources can be as resource-intensive as oil and gas,” Warren noted. “To build a growing digital economy and data centers, we must focus on using resources more efficiently.”

Beyond energy discussions, Warren focused on encouraging young women to pursue careers in tech. As a successful female entrepreneur in a male-dominated industry, she shared her experience of starting a global digital firm with minimal capital, stressing the gender-neutral potential of tech businesses.

“You don’t need a lot of capital, and it’s gender-neutral,” Warren explained. “You can create an anonymous site that people don’t know is female-owned if you’re in a country where that would not be favorable.”

Warren’s visit underscored the importance of bridging energy infrastructure and tech while empowering young women to break into the tech industry. Her message of perseverance and innovation continues to inspire the next generation of leaders in energy and technology.
