Don't know how reliable this is but according to https://app.electricitymaps.com/zone/DE emissions per kwh are up by about 20% from the same time last year and prices are pretty much doubled apparently.

Any ideas as to what could be causing it?

  1. Note that this are not the consumer prices but the spot market prices, which are set by the most expensive energy source needed to fullfil the demand.

    It’s winter, we have a lot of clouds all across Germany. As you can see, solar is completely down and coal is up.
