Beware of Irish Tax Scam Ads on Reddit

  1. It takes me ten minutes a year to submit a tax return. It wouldn’t take much more had I to submit medical receipts as well. Do not give anyone money to do this for you. In fact it would probably take longer to go back and forth uploading documents to them than just doing it yourself

  2. It’s not a scam, but you are basically paying someone money to do something that you can easily do yourself in a few minutes.

  3. Does anyone here purposely click on any ad on the internet, ever? Even if something is legitimate, I’m not here on reddit to shop. I’m here to talk shit.

  4. It’s not really a scam.

If they’re a scam, then every business that charges you to perform a service you could perform yourself is a scam

  5. I see loads of Ads for this company on Facebook Seems legit and this lady is affectionally known as TaxBae 😀

  6. My husband signed up them after me warning him repeatedly not to. I told him that I can do his tax return every year for him if he wants… Yet he still signed up! I tore him a new one and he cancelled it.

  7. I used to wonder why these companies exist. Like doing your tax return takes like 10 mins.

So I ask some people about it.

    It boils down to:

    “I don’t care”

“Saves me time” (it takes like 10 mins tops)

    “Can’t understand the tax return”

“I’m afraid il be wrong and owe loads of tax”

Non of these people I asked had medical issues or other sources of income, just just had the one job, so they just had to make sure the tax credits were correct and that was it….

So I dunno what the problem is anymore, education? They think the process is harder than it is?

But yeah these companies are pretty much stealing money from these people for doing little to no work.

  8. does anyone actually ever get close to the 1000 euro rebate? I only completed my tax return myself for the first time last year so was able to claim the previous four years too. Four years of dental and medical mainly and prescriptions. Plenty of them. the actual return i got was no where near that, not even 500.

  9. Friend of mine convinced me to sign up to this. Never got anything in return off them.

Then during the first lockdown while I was layed off I applied myself for a refund on taxes. They took a cut the fuckers

  10. Not on Reddit, but beware of scam calls too. I had an Indian guy call me from a Waterford number a couple of weeks ago. He said it was Irish revenue, very bad accent and I couldn’t understand what he was saying so I said who is this. So again he said it’s Irish revenue can you tell me your name. This time I understood him.
I actually had a proper laugh at him and said fuck off man there’s no way you’re revenue and he hung up straight away .

  11. If you’re seeing ads on reddit you’re doing it wrong. Takes all of 30 seconds of effort to install UBlock Origin and a third party reddit app
