I’m operating a stall at a craft fair tomorrow and I’m bricking it. I’ve tried to do something creative with my skills and time and I’ve produced and hand carved quite a lot of wooden products. I’ve also been carving slate- my question is, how many of you visit craft or artisan fairs, and what would you pay for something like this if it was what you were after?
Thanks for reading, looking forward to feedback!

You’ve made something OP. You’ve left a mark greater than most, even if to you it seems like nothing at all. Even if one person buys one of your creations tomorrow, that is still something of yours that will be cherished and loved within someone’s home.
You’ve done great. Don’t worry about whatever happens tomorrow. You’ve already succeeded.
As for price; 25-50 would be my suggestion. Don’t sell your effort short.
Like the colour ranges on the wooden yoke, toasted edges etc. Prefer anything wood, over slate.
If there is a picture hanging hook on the other side for wall hanging, and an explanation/translation of the ogham stuck on the back also (and smaller biz card of it for the front) expect they’ll sell for lowest minimum £35 depending on location, good bit more if somewhere posh.
looks a good size and weight too, just over A3 in height, a smooth finish with varnish seal.
The general rule is 2.5 times your materials/supplied, plus hourly working rate, then 10% for travelling/postage, if hand crafted.
Say your materials/tool wear cost £15, then that’s £37.50.
If it takes 4 hours work at £20/hour, add £80.
Multiply the above total by 10% at £11.75.
Total: £129
I mean, what would a person pay a stone mason? This isn’t far off. Folk are speculating on rates from other countries because Amazon sells cheap.
These are really lovely creations, I hope you’re proud of them. My advice as someone who creates and sells art is just enjoy it. Enjoy talking to folks about your work and let them know the effort and joy that goes into making them. You’ll make sales I don’t doubt that. It’s always good to have nice clear branding and a few flyers/business cards to secure future sales too. Good luck with these great pieces!
