BOX ELDER, S.D. (KOTA) – Rapid Details is a detailing company in Box Elder that has been open for two years.
“We detail cars, we clean outside and outside, we do paint correction, ceramic coatings, we’re kind of working on getting a tint right now,” Billy Winter, co-owner of Rapid Detailers said.
Co-owners Nick Toth and Billy Winter started by detailing their cars and friends.
“At the time, we were driving for Lyft and Uber, and just keeping our cars clean was a priority for all of us involved in that, and it just seemed like it came natural for us,” Nick Toth, owner of Rapid Detailers said.
The two owners taught themselves how to detail cars.
“YouTube obviously is a huge training tool and just getting our hands dirty and figuring stuff out,” Winter said.
All cars brought to the shop go through the same cleaning process.
“We will go around it and kind of see what it needs,” Toth said. “We bring it into our wash bay, do the exterior first, get it all cleaned up and shiny.”
Once the exterior is mostly finished, next is the interior.
“We get it vacuumed out,” Toth said.
“We go in there with our fabric cleaners, we use an extractor to pull everything right out of the carpet,” Winter said.
“We pull out all the nooks and crannies – wipe it down,” Toth added.
“And at the end, we wax the exterior, get it as shiny as we possibly can, (and) throw some tire shine on it,” Winter said.
The whole process can take four to six hours.
“Nothing is too dirty to clean, but we do get cars that there’s no way you’re going to get them brand new,” Winter said.
“There’s definitely been some that we didn’t want to do,” Toth said.
Besides paying attention to cleaning details, Rapid Detailers pays attention to the products they use.
“One of the things I want to let our customers know is that we do test all of our products before we offer them to the community,” Toth said. “We are currently testing our 10 different ceramic coatings. Again, if you’re spending a lot of money, we want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.”
