Well spotted.
I also find it interesting that the morons I know on FB have switched from ‘anti-vax’ to ‘anti-nato’.
Can’t they just use VPN’s?
A lot of the far left and far right crackpots have all gone quiet since. Although weirdly in real life , the usual voices in any international incident have been very quiet , brid smith for example has only tweeted twice about ukraine and both times its her attending protests with ‘stop nato expansion’ signs
I found that some those on the “left ” have not yet seen the irony of their beliefs now lining up those of big tech, pharma and corporations in general
Sort of the opposite of the anti establishment they used consider themselves to be.
When was the last time prior to the pandemic, that people have seen society as divided as the ‘pro-vax vs anti-vax’ stuff?
There was no room for nuance of any kind, and it quickly turned into “any criticism of government policy = you’re anti-vax” – and _every_ covid related discussion turned to shit, where people were out to smear you if you disagree with them in the slightest.
Normally people just ignore or laugh at nutters like the anti-vax crowd is filled with – but during the pandemic things went totally batshit, and it started opening up really weird/creepy divisions in society.
We’re seeing the same thing now with the war in Ukraine.
The same way you can be vaccinated and in favour of vaccinations, but be smeared as anti-vax if you e.g. think vaccine passes are a bad idea – you can condemn Russia for the invasion, say Putin should be put on trial for a War of Aggression and imprisoned/executed – but you’re still smeared as ‘Pro Russia’ if you criticize doing things that can draw NATO into the war, or criticize the Ukrainian government (even some of the mods are in on this, which as you imagine can quickly polarize discussion on the entire sub).
The consequences of the ‘pro vax vs anti vax’ social divisions were risks to civil liberties. The consequences of, lets say the ‘pro NATO vs pro Russia’ social divisions, is risking countries being dragged into a bigger war and even WWIII – which is incredibly dangerous.
Even forgetting individual peoples view or ‘sides’ in these discussions, people _must_ recognize that a lot of this is starting to echo 1930’s style social divisions and jingoism – which led to more extremist politics and eventually wars, no?
The effect of the way these discussions are going, is that very soon nobody is going to be able to have a sensible discussion, about policies and events that could drag us into a war down the line – which should scare the shit out of everyone, and make them want to politically back as far away from this as possible.

Eh surely the reason hardly anyone is posting on that sub js because we’ve no restrictions these days?
Schizo posting
It’s mad how much these people don’t realise they’ve been played by other countries politics.
Because its so hard to get around those restrictions right?
lol. x-posting from r / neoliberal.
Stooping lower day by day here I see.
I have no idea what happened to that sub but I’ve seen the rustyshackleford guy go from calling everyone sheep and himself a wolf on the coronavirus ireland sub for being concerned about coronavirus
To asking for advice on what to do about his roommate having COVID and not taking proper precautions on here
The most boring answer is probably the correct one here, we have enough gobshites we don’t need to borrow any atm
the mods of CVI are all last active a year ago, or 45 minutes ago.
That does not point to Russian bot farms
Nice catch. But also, yuck, neoliberals!
Hasn’t r/ireland had a few scandals with its mods using multiple alts?
covid is over. who gives a shit
