Drop off at City Airport today. I was wondering if the no stopping/picking up charges are similar to the ‘Smart Parking’ charges that are not effectively enforceable in NI, as they are a private company and would have to prove who the driver of the vehicle is, not just that I am the registered keeper?

Pictures of sign and screenshots of consumer council website info regarding paying private parking fines attached.

Realistically, the long stay drop off point (which I used) is fine as it’s a short walk and fortunately friends and family are able to do the walk no bother. Shame City Airport brought in the £3 charge all the same as the driving system around the car park is as organised as a bowl of spaghetti😂

  1. I’ve got bad news for you, op. But there’s cameras at City to catch whose driving.

  2. Recived a £60 fine for getting lost and pulling in for 3 minutes its a fine im not paying ill go to jail first its going up to £100 ..gives you the option to pay the £60 if done in 14 days but these fly bastards are not sending the fines out in time so you dont have that option inwill never set foot in the fucking place again or be near it in a vechile

  3. Paying for dropping off is an utter f’ing disgrace.

  4. Unless you’re dropping off someone who has mobility issues, surely this is so easy to just comply with? Long stay is so close.

  5. Whoever designed the new roads layout should have their crayons and paper taken away. Whoever actually approved it needs their head looked at. An utter shambles of a road layout and of course people are probably going to stop because they’re confused because they’ve just driven in to the airport and it looks like they have to drive out again.

  6. Can you imagine if Hospitality or Retail car parks operated to this degree of shill? They’d be out of business and the local guilds would ostracise them. What makes airports an exception? This is one stop away from a bully extorting folk for lunch money.

  7. I always wonder how the drop off fee is legal. My understanding is that in a contract you are exchanging money for a service, which even a parking space I could understand but with drop off there is no service being provided in kind.
