The Islamic Commission of Spain (CIE) has confirmed that Eid al-Fitr — the celebration marking the end of Ramadan — will take place on Sunday 30 March 2025.

The announcement follows moon sightings confirmed in several countries, which determine the beginning of Shawwal, the next month in the Islamic calendar. That means Muslims across Spain will gather on Sunday morning to pray, celebrate and mark the end of a month of fasting.

A day of joy, prayer and community after Ramadan

After a month of fasting from sunrise to sunset, Eid al-Fitr is a moment of relief, reflection and happiness. Families and friends will come together, mosques will host special morning prayers, and communities will share food and give to those in need — a central part of the celebration.

The Islamic Commission took this opportunity to send a heartfelt message to the global Muslim community, wishing peace and wellbeing to all.

“May our good deeds be accepted,” the statement read, “and may peace and safety prevail around the world.”

Spain’s Muslim communities prepare for Sunday’s festivities

From Madrid to Málaga, preparations are already underway. Local mosques and Islamic centres are expecting high turnouts for the early morning prayers, and many families are planning festive meals to mark the day.

For many, it’s more than just the end of fasting — it’s a time to reconnect, forgive, and celebrate together.
