Back in my youth I worked in a residential care setting for people with autism.
One of my clients was massively into metal detecting and was desperate to go for a weekend event – I reluctantly agreed to take him and fully expected to hate it.
It was absolutely brilliant. The community were amazing, really friendly towards my client and I, and even let me borrow a metal detector to join in. The thrill I got when I found an old piece of rubbish was amazing.
I can only imagine how good it must be to find that many gold coins. No wonder there’s a hardcore of people with such a cool niche hobby.
300 years ago hoard ?
Plenty of the Islanders played Imperials, no surprise they always seem to find a few more gold Coins!
Seriously though, this is just cool.
I wish there could be some kind of nationwide dig (across all countries really) so that we can just find all the artefacts. Wouldn’t that be nice.
