I’ve been seeing those devices all around the town for a few days, does anyone know what they are used for? I was scared that it was a new kind of radar that computes the speed with its two rubber bands

  1. I think those are usually to count the amount of vehicles passing.

  2. Cable to count traffic.

There’s an easy way to not be scared of radar. Just go the speed limits.

  3. My uneducated guess is traffic statistic collection.

  4. They count the number of cars passing. There’s two so that they can deduce the direction the car is driving in. They’re not currently used to measure speed.

  5. They are called amphometers, and they check speed (or could be just used as counters)

  6. As others have said, it’s most likely a traffic counting device.

I wouldn’t worry about getting a fine from it, since there is no camera or alternative method to identify cars.

  7. Vehicle counters. They do not measure the speed. There are 2 because it is a closed loop.

    it works by electromagnetic induction.

  8. I missed the cables completely and I was focusing on what looks like a road block in front? Or is this some magic reflection?
