  1. April 1 (Reuters) – Two of Ukraine’s military helicopters struck a fuel depot in the Russian city of Belgorod on Friday, a Russian official has said, making the first accusation of a Ukrainian air strike on Russian soil since Moscow invaded its neighbour in late February.

Video images of the purported attack posted online showed what looked like several missiles being fired from low altitude, followed by an explosion. Reuters has not yet been able to verify the images.

The helicopters struck the facility after crossing the border at low altitude, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on messaging app Telegram.

The resulting blaze injured two workers, Gladkov added, while some areas were being evacuated in the city near the Ukrainian border.

However, Russian oil firm Rosneft [(ROSN.MM)](https://www.reuters.com/companies/ROSN.MM), which owns the fuel depot, said in a separate statement that no one was hurt in the fire, though it gave no information on the cause.

Ukraine’s defence ministry could not immediately be reached for comment.

An ammunition depot near Belgorod caught fire on Wednesday, causing a series of blasts. At the time, Gladkov said authorities were waiting for the Russian defence ministry to establish its cause.

  2. Because obviously, Ukraine would fly helis over the occupied zones in their own country into Russia, which is claimed to have some of the most advanced anti-aircraft equipment, and attack a depot. Not sure what to think here.

  3. > a Russian official has said

Yeah… even if it was the truth info always has to be confirmed because they’d lie about everything under the sun. I say false flag.

  4. Maybe, or more likely Russian army command ordered an attack on specific fuel depots in Ukraine. As the order found its way down the efficient Russian army hierarchy the order got scrambled until only “attack the fuel depot” remained.
Drunk Russian helicopter pilots was told to attack a fuel depot, and as obedient sheep they followed the order and attacked.

  5. Ow common. Obvious false flag is obvious.

Yo, Russia. Just take a dump near the Kremlin and take a picture and say it’s the Ukrainians. Or that a car accident in St. Petersburg was because of Ukraine. Or dig trenches in the Chernobyl Red forest… ow, wait!
