  1. > Rishi Sunak has hinted he is in favour of fracking to help tackle the energy crisis in the latest sign of a Cabinet split over the contentious issue.

    > The Chancellor claimed that tapping potential reserves of shale oil and gas in Britain was something “we should be exploring” if it could be done safely.

    > His comments came after Boris Johnson opened the door to lifting the moratorium on fracking. The Prime Minister told Kwasi Kwarteng, the Business Secretary, that it didn’t “make sense” to concrete over shale wells as Britain battles with rocketing energy prices.

    > It comes as the Cabinet appears divided on whether to reconsider its stance on fracking. Mr Kwarteng has argued it makes more sense to cut reliance on fossil fuels by building renewable power sources such as wind and solar farms, as well as a new generation of nuclear plants. Michael Gove last week backed that position. The Levelling Up Secretary said he was “not convinced” by the case for fracking and that Western countries needed to kick their oil and gas “addiction” as it gave leverage to dominant producers such as Russia.

IMO, if its safe, then they should consider it. The world has changed since they last considered fracking.

  2. Fracking is wasteful spending, the costs are too high for low yields and if include economic costs then it is entirely impossible to justify. May as well fart in jars for energy sources as it would be more efficient.

  3. Didn’t fracking die a death because people were getting very rowdy over the idea?

IIRC some of the Fracking sites had to resort to hiring heavies to guard the sites because people were very against it

  4. Even if we were to restart fracking tomorrow, it would take 2-3 years for the gas to start following

  5. We really need a “Tories out at any cost” Coalition. Labour, Lib Dem, SNP, & Greens need to find what they have in common and make a Tory wipeout happen.

If Johnson falls at some point then Sunak is supposed to be the heir apparent by a country mile according to the polls and quite frankly it’s looking like a change from chaotic evil to ordered evil.

  6. They make no attempt to hide their hypocrisy. They’ll talk about how important climate change is and how it should be a priority when the cameras are on at some big climate summit and enjoy the applause. The next day they seem to forget about it and it’s back to business as usual. My mate just gave me a backhander so it’s time to push for fracking again.
