European leaders are reconsidering the idea of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine, seeing it as increasingly unlikely, Reuters reports, citing diplomatic sources. “They are stepping back from the idea of ground troops and trying to rethink their approach in a more pragmatic way,” a European diplomat said. France and the UK have encountered “political and logistical constraints” in planning a peacekeeping mission, along with potential pushback from both Russia and the United States.

    “When Ukraine was in a stronger position, the idea of sending troops seemed more appealing. But given the current situation on the ground and the stance of the U.S. administration, it’s far less attractive now,” another diplomat explained.

    The U.S. can make and unmake Ukraine, any time (Kyiv depends on Washington for military, economic and other support.) If Trump’s team proves unable to impose peace on Kiev, Washington may simply quit the conflict, leaving it Europe’s problem. It would not be the first time for the U.S. to suddenly abandon a battlefield.

    War footage of Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine is visible everywhere and one can see the destruction.
