He needs to get over this, it stinks but time to move on career wise
Darth Bane could be black and I wouldn’t be bothered. As long as he’s huge and bald.
I was really disappointed on how Finn played out. I thought it would be a great arc. Would have been great to see a brainwashed storm trooper become a caring jedi with attachments.
On the other hand, John seems like a difficult person to work with. Sadly you hear more about this drama than anything else about him.
Disappointed all around.

People are legit forgetting how much hate this man got the moment people saw him in trailers
Long story short, this guy is really rude in real life.
Personal Experience. And his negative attitude seems to show in almost every interview or tapping he dose that isn’t a press junket
Played friend-zoned character
You can see people in the comments supporting the point he’s making.
Good thing is, the majority of people after the fact were wishing he was the main protagonist. I’m wishing he was the focus, honestly.
The initial trailers made him out to be so much more important than he ended up being in the series, it was such a cop out.
Him and Rey as dual Jedi would have been awesome.
Really wish they hadn’t botched all the character arcs.
Liked him in the first movie but the 2nd one destroyed anything interesting about the character. 🤷🏻♂️
John Boyega *should* have been the main character. Fin was so much more interesting than Ray… and then they straight side-lined him
And Disney is just as culpable. They made Finn a lovesick puppy around Rey while she falls for mass murdering, crazy man Kylo Ren. They even considered her falling for Poe before him, a character she had next to no screentime with in the first movie.
I hate that John has to walk away from the franchise because he hated being associated with it; but hell if I don’t understand. This dude was getting dunked on from the very second people saw his face.
He was a bright spot in the sequels, and he had great chemistry with Rey and Poe. Such a shame all my fandoms have dumb fans.
Anyone else hate how Disney advertised him as a strong Jedi. Only to be “REEYY” yelling side character
I can’t get over the fact that Finn wasn’t the main character of that trilogy.
A soldiers raised from birth to kill breaks free of his indoctrination upon his first exposure to the violence of war and flees, not out of a moral duty but out of self preservation.
He’s not a hero out on a quest to save the galaxy or a loved one, he’s out to save himself and screw everyone else as long as he’s safe.
He finds out he’s sensitive to the force but lacks the training to take on the main villain and is easily dispatched.
You could take him anywhere from that point in seven, he was the only one with a genuinely engaging and original arc in the entire film.
But no, he’s a side character at best and a minor part at worst.
Such a waste.
I mean I liked his character, it did seem like he was getting set up for something cool and then everything got a little weird in the second movie. Then the third movie came out and completely went off the rails. Dude can certainly act. Every time he shows up in something, he’s excellent. They Cloned Tyrone is fantastic.
He’s got great charisma and the trailers made it look like he was going to be a Jedi or at least a force user. I don’t think anyone was happy with what the writers did with his character.
Was he supposed to have a larger role? I thought he was going to be the main character with Rey.
Finn was such an amazing character with a lot of potential, just to be sidelined
These mfers always get it wrong. No one has ever said they don’t want black actors in Star Wars. We love mace windu. We are tired of BAD actors whose characters are jokes. Finn had so much potential and is probably the worst character ever besides Rey
He should slam the executives instead. History says they are okay with it and they might have more control over what gets made than the fans…
I really liked his character throughout, but for the third movie he had a better role in Trevorrow’s Duel script instead of Rise. I like the idea of the stormtrooper rebellion on Coruscant. But whatever.
John Boyega must not have a white friend to bounce off of. I am a white guy with a black friend who is randomly in my life. Hell my Dad has one. But I never get the feeling that of Ohh there is that random white guy like solo. In fact solo is not the random white guy.
Who made him the best friend character? Fans or Disney?
As much as I don’t like jj Abrams work, there were enough little hooks for Finn to develop into something but Rian Johnson threw those all away.
I was convinced Finn and Poe were gonna end up together. They had some real chemistry.
A former storm trooper betraying the empire for the rebellion only to find out he’s force sensitive and train to become a Jedi would’ve been one of the coolest stories in Star Wars, but they said, *nah*.
Former brainwashed stormtrooper awakened by the force , running and hiding. Only to find others like him and lead a force rebellion from the underskirt of coruscant ….
Man that’d be an arc.
I remember people freaking the hell out when Finn first appeared as a stormtrooper and they freaked out over it. Finn being the Jar Jar Binks of the sequels killed Bodega’s momentum from the word Go.
The marketing clearly made Finn out to be the next Jedi. He had the lightsaber on every Force Awakens poster. He even was the one who clashed with Kylo Ren at the end of the trailer! From defector, to wanderer, to Resistance fighter and to fighting his former boss was a great concept!
Disney were complete cowards for not having Finn be the main character.
Disney has been trying for a while now to diversify at the cost of quality. No one should have any issues with diversity in the cast, but when Star Wars isn’t entertaining anymore and characters are drab, then it’s something people will point out.
Produce better content, Disney. Then this won’t be a discussion.
Meh, maybe don’t take shitty film roles if you don’t want to stink. Finn was originally interesting (at least as far as anything in the sequel trilogy could have been after they scrapped decades of lore), but got sidelined because they wanted everything to revolve around Rey (Kathleen’s self insert). His acting in Pacific Rim 2 wasn’t stellar either. Easily one of the worst parts of an already very troubled film.
The fans didnt make those dogshit movies dude. Blame the producers.
Sorry bro, those movies just sucked. The only thing I wish is that they simply never happened. Nothing personal to him, of course.
There’s some cool extended universe stuff already, i remember books that had a much better post-Empire story than these atrocious remakes disguised as sequels.
Like any fans have control over the storyline and character development in the first place?
had nothing to do with his character having so much potential then…..nothing.
The last jedi/rian johnson stans he’s talking to you.
I mean, bro, don’t blame us lol. Blame the studio.
I loved his character in the first movie and thought he was going to turn into a Jedi with Rey and make it a 2v1 (2 untrained Jedi vs 1 trained sith). Instead they just made Rey instantly good at everything and shoved him off to the side. Such a sad outcome especially if it was racially driven. The movies could have been actually good compared to what we got.
As a white OG Star Wars fan, I actually wanted Finn to be the lead. His story would have been much more interesting than an ep4 remix.
His character is one of MANY things that they didn’t do justice. Despite having endless possibilities for his story.
Like a trooper turning to the good side? Ending up becoming a jedi? Come on, it was right there.
