  1. Had no idea Orkney, Shetland and the West of auld reekie were the English heartland haha

  2. Seems to be a reasonable strategy for them. They are aiming to get the former conservative voters who are closer to the centre and supported remain.

Those kind of voters would be put off by reform yet probably wouldn’t trust the labour party.

  3. This just seems badly phrased to be honest.

I think what they mean is they want to be the party of government in middle England, not that they want to be a party of middle Englanders.

  4. The Northern Isles and Fife, and occasionally East Dunbartonshire, classic middle England territories…

  5. Thought they wanted votes in Scotland, Wales and for their affiliated party in NI?

Of course this casual dismissal of other parts of the UK is just “normal” for Unionist parties like this. We are just a needless complication that they would prefer to ignore.

  6. Middle England is finished because the rich evade taxes buy all assets and price everyone out of everything. Not noticed? These yellow clowns couldn’t change a lightbulb.

  7. >’party of Middle England’

So they’re just going to forget about Orkney and Shetland?

  8. This is specifically in the context of the coming local elections.
You know, the ones which are only happening in England.
