Marking Mother’s Day, the 35-year-old shared a number of images of her sons as well as a homemade card signed from ‘Augie and Ernie’ celebrating the occasion. In one of the photographs, Princess Eugenie could be seen beaming alongside Sarah Ferguson whilst holding her son Ernest.

The little boy was dressed in the traditional royal christening gown, a sentimental outfit which has been passed down through the generations. The garment has been worn by 62 royal babies over 163 years, including five monarchs King Edward VII, King George V, King Edward VIII, King George VI and our Queen.

Little is known about Ernest’s christening, though Eugenie’s elder son August was christened in a joint event in Windsor with Zara Tindall and her son Lucas. At the time, Penny Junor told The Sun Queen Elizabeth II was ‘very fond’ of the two families and determined to attend the event. She said, ‘I’ve never heard of two royal babies being christened together like this. The Queen is very spiritual, a christening is a very important occasion for the head of the Church of England and being there will be of great importance to her.’

A final photograph reveals Eugenie sitting on the floor with her sons cuddling up on her lap whilst she read them a children’s story. Posting the images, the mother-of-two wrote, ‘Happy Mother’s Day from this proud mama and daughter.’
