TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – On Monday night, Rep. Neal Dunn (R) Fla. hosted a tele-town hall, taking about 20 questions from the public on topics from Social Security to Medicare, as well as defending DOGE cuts and President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Dunn discussed Congress’s effort to make Trump’s executive orders permanent, so they are harder to undo when the president leaves office.
“The next president can change them again unless Congress steps in and puts them into statute. And we are actually doing that. We have a number of bills. In fact, we have three what we call continuing resolution acts this week that take executive orders and put them into statute,” Dunn said. “Once they’re in statute, then the president can’t undo those without going back to Congress.”

Dunn also touted another prospective bill that limits the reach of rulings made in lower courts.
The legislation comes after several judges have paused and forced review of several executive orders, like Trump’s deportations and mass layoffs.
Monday’s tele-town hall was hosted days after residents gathered outside the congressman’s office to protest changes to Social Security and feared cuts.
