What Caused the Lyon Living Data Breach?

The Lyon Living data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Lyon Living’s filing with the Attorney General of California provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, Lyon recently became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Lyon secured its systems, notified law enforcement, and then launched an investigation to learn more about the incident.

Through this investigation, Lyon confirmed that an unknown and unauthorized party was able to access part of the company’s network between March 14, 2024 and March 15, 2024, including files containing confidential consumer information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Lyon Living reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted.

While the publicly available data breach letter on the California Attorney General’s website does not mention what data types were leaked, on March 28, 2025, Lyon Management Group sent out personalized data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These personalized letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
