The purchase of agricultural machinery, the supply of dairy products and interaction in the medical sector are the priorities for the Cuban authorities in strengthening co-operation with Belarus – as noted by Cuban Ambassador to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez at a meeting with Belarusian business circles held at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI), sb.by reports citing the BelCCI website
BelCCI Deputy Chairperson Yelena Malinovskaya opened the event and emphasised that the relations between Belarus and Cuba are traditionally friendly. Cuba is a significant partner of the republic in the international arena and one of its most important allies.
“This meeting allowed exporting companies to get useful information about the investment potential of the Cuban market, as well as about the opportunities for exporting Belarusian products to this country. Business representatives were interested in the terms of supplying equipment for retail chains: shelves, checkout counters, refrigerators, as well as the possibility of participation of Belarusian companies in the modernisation of Cuba’s energy sector,’ the BelCCI said.
The parties also discussed the development of co-operation in the tourism sector. In 2024, about 8,000 Belarusian citizens visited Cuba for tourism purposes. According to Santiago Perez Benitez, this is not enough, so different approaches should be considered to activate this direction.
