Hungary’s national gas transmission system operator, FGSZ, announced that, together with its Slovak partner, Eustream, it intends to offer additional firm capacity at the Veľké Zlievce/Balassagyarmat interconnection point (IP) from Hungary to Slovakia.
Bilateral negotiations have already begun between the two companies to amend the relevant Interconnection Agreement, and FGSZ has initiated the modification of its operational licence with the Hungarian regulatory authority.
Accordingly, firm capacity at the Veľké Zlievce/Balassagyarmat IP is expected to increase to 5,300,315 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per hour (from 3.5 billion cubic metres per year (bcma) to 4.38 bcma) from Hungary to Slovakia, most likely in 2025, following the completion of the necessary works.
According to the company, the capacity increase at the Slovak-Hungarian interconnection point is an important part of the Vertical Corridor.
