Don’t believe it.

  1. He just wants people to keep massaging his ego. All the people feeding him the third term hope, are wanting it to be a distraction.

  2. Meh, he’s talking about a third term, because he’s going to try for a third (and possibly 4th) term.

  3. Just destabilizing the markets so he can buy some more profit shares.

  4. Nah, he’s talking about it because he’s going to do it. There’s no need to distract when they’re doing it all out in the open anyway.

  5. I feel like an over exhausted parent of a toddler whenever that man says or does anything

    “Yes…mhm…that’s wonderful, sweetie…right…oh don’t I know it…that’s a shame…wow…”

  6. It’s both. He’s distracting us from what fElon is doing, from the Signal scandal, the tariff wars, the illegal deportations and everything else. And yet at the same time he does want to be president forever because that’s the only way he stays out of jail.

  7. We’re one whole American participation in WWII away from that.

  8. He is not distracting he just sends a barrage of horrible things into the world and will do all of them if he can. His objective is to weaken the US and it is going faster then I think they planned.

  9. He is doing both. He is distracting you and he wants to be president for life.

  10. Where are they redirecting all of the funds? Follow the money

  11. Except he’s not. It definitely is a distraction to be 100% clear, but its something he would certainly do. Trump is a cheater, liar and a blatant fascist at this point. We are constantly told “he’s joking” and then he does the thing he was “joking” about. We need to take his bullshit very seriously.

  12. This is a ridiculous opinion. To not believe he is serious is to be willfully ignorant.

  13. He’s accomplishing the fucked up ‘no way he’ll do that!’ Shit he promised, so I will take everything he says at face value

  14. He’s completely lost his filter and has no grasp on reality. Nothing is a distraction it’s just whatever is running through his head. This is just senile incompetence on full display, so prepare for it to get worse.

  15. He will go for a third term and these idiots will vote for him again..

  16. Worst take …he wants to be a dictator. He loves that shit

  17. The guy who tried to overthrow the government four years ago wouldn’t seek a third term??

He’s not capable of thinking strategically. What he says is just a moron’s stream of consciousness.

  18. A lot of people here say it’s both, but it’s more so a distraction than something serious. Steve Bannon admitted as such: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/16/media/steve-bannon-reliable-sources/index.html

    > Bannon told Lewis. “The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.”

Essentially what they do is say outrageous shit like “I’m running for a third term” or “We’re going to take Greenland” and the media focuses on that because of how outrageous it is, and then the media focuses less on the more nefarious shit that’s happening.

  19. What does this even mean? Distract you from what? The erosion of the institutions of democracy?

I really don’t know if I could believe this meme was made by a human with any basic analysis of the situation. The third term is not the distraction dude, it’s the fucking payload.

  20. This is true. Disbelieve anything Trump says. Are his lips moving? If yes, he’s lying.

  21. Why would he care about distracting you if he historically doesn’t give a shit about optics – in large part because nobody will do anything about it anyway?

Everything he’s talking about doing – *everything* – he’s going to do given the chance.

  22. Don’t you guys overestimate his intelligence too much? Does he even know what “distraction” is?

  23. What is he distracting us from? He doesn’t have to hide what he is doing, everyone is just sitting on their ass and accepting what ever happens. What have people done to stop him exactly?

  24. Nah.

His underlings are using the distraction, but Trump talking about Trump like that is just another day that ends with a Y

  25. He talks about it because he will go to prison instead. He wont step down. He’ll only leave the WH as a corpse

  26. This is exactly the argument MAGAs tell themselves when Trump says something they don’t like. “He’s just trolling”. Then he often goes and does it.

  27. Privatisation, vastly increased power to the executive, rolling back of civil rights, vastly increased police power, breaking whatever aspects of the US constitution don’t suit, destruction of workplace entitlements, threats of invasion to ALLIES. Where’s the distraction? These things are all happening as we speak. There’s no sleight of hand because there’s NO NEED. It’s all on display at breakneck speed.

  28. Trouble is, the things he says as a distraction fix in the dementia riddled mind and become policy.  Especially ones that excite the base.  Greenland and Canada both became that.  Flack that got backfilled into policy.

  29. Remember, when Trump wouldn’t say that he would accept the election result if he loses? Trump is actually pretty transparent and straightforward. He only tries to use plausible deniabilty retroactively after the fact if he receives enough backlash/mockery.

  30. He’s talking about it now because he wants to do it in the future and it’s also a useful distraction now.

  31. He’s talking about it to distract us, but he’s also talking about it because he does want to do it.

  32. It’s a shotgun pellet approach. Everything that hits is what he’s aiming for.

Only when it misses us when it’s just a distraction or a joke or some master plan.

If he can get a third term he’s going to claw for it.

If trying is going to get him jailed, and only when this is a real possibility, is when he’s going to walk this statement back.

  33. Dude is on a constant campaign because he’s incapable of actually effectively governing and it riles his supporters up.

He’s like the kid that campaigns for class president on the platform of eliminating homework but ends up just getting the kids supporting him into more trouble when they don’t do it.

  34. Remember that he idolizes Putin. Hell, he may be directly reporting to Putin.

  35. And he never wants to give up power. Both can and are true
