And this shows only the billboards. They spent over one billion HUF (2,7 M Euros) only for Facebook ads. So, thanks again to Facebook/Meta and Youtube for supporting his campaign by allowing disinformation and propaganda ads.
Needless to say, Fidesz billboards are everywhere and those of the opposition are practically non-existent.
Fidesz pretends that the Hungarian government is a completely independent institution and as such it has the right to “inform” the people with unlimited tax money. This so-called information happens to be 100% in Fidesz’s favor, such as [this] (https://images.hvg.hu/image.jpg?id=18d8bda8-4a95-47b9-88f8-8093e5a35aa4&view=7fcefbf8-ac48-4ee6-aef5-32203afa118c) one, which says: “Let’s protect Hungary’s peace and security.” with an Orbán portrait next to it. They have been doing this for years without any scruples.
In addition, there are a number of fake NGOs funded by state-owned companies that run an endless smear campaign against the opposition since years.
As /u/kg88pks already [mentioned] (https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/tts4a1/hungarian_election_fidesz_spent_eight_times_as/i2zoi24/), this is only billboard advertising, Fidesz has unlimited money to push Youtube/Facebook and other social media ads, as they do not count as campaign spending for obvious reasons. So this is just the tip of the iceberg and only serves to illustrate how unequal the balance of power is for the election campaign in Hungary.
Meanwhile, the opposition’s budget is very limited, and to make the situation even worse, state funding for political parties has been cut in half since the Covid crisis under the ridiculous pretext of saving money. At the same time they are wasting huge sums on completely unnecessary projects as if there were no tomorrow.
All this is happening because Orbán could get away with this in 2014 and in 2018 as well. It is time for the EU to say that it will not recognize Orbán’s power as long as there are no fair elections in Hungary.

Yeah but the expense was shared amongst all 😎
How much of that was paid by embezzled EU funds?
