Shafaq News/ Iraq and India led global imports of refined
petroleum products in March, data analytics firm Kpler reported on Tuesday.

Kpler also noted that stored refined product imports at the
UAE’s Fujairah port rose to 835,000 barrels per day (bpd) in March, up from
783,000 bpd in February, with Iraq and India being the top importers from the
port.

Refined petroleum products include gasoline, kerosene, fuel
oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), asphalt, lubricants, diesel, and residual
fuel.

Iraq, OPEC’s second-largest producer, continues to rely
heavily on imports due to challenges such as security threats, political
instability, aging infrastructure, and resource depletion. Gas flaring and
opaque contracts further complicate its energy sector, driving higher demand
for refined oil products.
