Ik zie het verschil niet, buiten de additionele info dat het om een toekomstige gynaecoloog gaat, wat dit allemaal eigenlijk nog veel erger maakt.
To make things worse, is he a gynecologist? Do you know if that is correct, or did I misunderstand something?
Tbf, the original VRT article didn’t have the victim statement when I saw the article this morning and had a completely different title iirc. Seems they added it later on once they made a statement.

Dat het slachtoffer er tevreden mee is zou voor velen al idd het teken moeten zijn om wat rustiger te zijn. Ik heb het er ook niet gemakkelijk mee (zelfs met de bijkomende informatie) want ik vraag mij oprecht af waarom een rechter uitspraken maakt als “hij is een getalenteerd persoon en geëngageerd.” Dat klinkt alsof talent hier een doorslaggevende factor mag zijn.
Daarbovenop nog eens “als hij andere feiten zou plegen dat zal hij ook voor deze vervolgd worden” ahja, dus nog een tweede slachtoffer? (ale eig zelfs meer tot er iemand zich er over uitspreekt)

The other thread was unfortunately dominated by rabid people who rashly let their first impression of the headline guide their judgement. It’s already bad enough that the culprit was not punished in spite of being declared guilty; why add fuel to the fire by making baseless assumptions about “class justice” or the culprit having spiked the victim’s drink? Read the article and go smoke a cigarette to calm your nerves.
VRT needs clicks too. They are just as implicated in the race to the bottom for your monetized attention.
That’s why “De Lijn’s abbreviation for Centrumparking has the word trump in it” was a VRT news item last month.

Een gerechtelijke straf zou niet (enkel) mogen dienen om het slachtoffer gelukkig te maken, maar om de maatschappij te beschermen.
Een verkrachter zonder straf vrijlaten en dat als toekomstig gynaecoloog is niet de maatschappij beschermen. Rechter en gerecht hebben gefaald…
