Might want to use the same cash, to send some gift baskets to the governments of Bulgaria, Romania, Moldava, Slovakia, and Ukraine to see if they can repair the seals on their methane and distillate pipes, pumps.
Same for North Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Herzegovina, for not only methane but for coal mines.
The more immediate offer should be to Brazil to start taking care of the Amazon as opposed to destroying it all. If they accept financial incentives to do that then great. If they don’t, they should be hit with crippling trade sanctions. Idk why the world is tolerating a moron like Bolsonaro getting us all killed at this point.
Great news, but I don’t have faith that my government (most notably the ANC) won’t squander and pilfer some of that. I’m hoping that the UK, EU and US demand open accounting on this.
South Africa already has nuclear reactors, but because of Sasol (Oil producer) and Eskom (electrical grid) mostly being coal-fired, we are one of the largest emitters in Africa.

Decarbonization is a global efford it doesn’t do fuck all if some nations get rid of coal and others don’t.
The important thing to focus is making sure those funds are properly used.
Pro move: “help” poorer countries to get rid of coal, thereby making more money on coal yourselves
