BTW, from the stories of many GIs I had the privilege to meet, these orders were totally ignored. As were the ‘non-fraternization’ with the enemy (post V-E) day orders. Meaning, the men immediately had local girlfriends. After 4-10 years of war, you cannot hold back human nature 🙂
