A vandal smashed the front window at Moonlight Intimate Apparel in Wheeling’s Centre Market area late Sunday.
An unknown person broke the front window of Moonlight Intimate Apparel on Centre Market this past weekend.
Susan Shoemaker, the building’s owner and resident of the apartment above the retail shop, said she heard a loud noise around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. She said she did not think much of it as Centre Market is a high traffic area. Shoemaker learned that another nearby resident heard the noise too.
“You know, there’s a lot of noise down here at night,” Shoemaker said.
She said she walked around her apartment with her dog, thinking something may have fallen off her wall and shattered but did not find anything out of the ordinary. An employee of the store noticed the large hole in the glass when she came in to open the store Monday morning and noticed cold air drifting in from outside.
Shoemaker has been in contact with her insurance company and a company that will be boarding up and replacing the broken window. Though there are cameras outside of the store, it was not clear Monday whether they picked up anything identifying from the incident.
Shoemaker said nothing appeared to have been stolen.
Shoemaker and employees filed a police report with the Wheeling Police Department Monday afternoon. WPD said there was no additional information at that time.
