INTEREST RATES

On Wednesday, the Polish Monetary Policy Council will announce its decision on interest rates. All analysts surveyed by Reuters expect the cost of financing to remain unchanged in April.

EU DEFENCE MINISTERS MEETING

On Wednesday, a two-day meeting of the European Union’s Informal Foreign Affairs Council begins in Poland, with the participation of EU defence ministers and EU defence commissioner Andrius Kubilius. A White Paper on European defence will be presented during the meeting.

AMERICAN TARIFFS

The chief economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Beata Javorcik, said that an increase in US tariffs would have little impact on Poland and would reduce economic growth by about 0.2 percentage points, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.

CIVIL PROTECTION

Within two years, the Polish government intends to spend almost 32 billion zlotys ($8.25 billion) on civil protection, which will include the modernization and construction of shelters and replenishing supplies, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reported.

TVN

Two bidders who want to buy the Polish television station TVN – the richest Pole, Michal Solowow, and the WP Holding consortium – have been joined by a third one, media group Ringier Axel Springer Polska with the private equity fund CVC Capital Partners, Puls Biznesu reported, citing its own sources.
