  1. You all voted for this. Who would have thought that voting for “things can only get better” would backfire. Look forward to the next general election.

  2. Funny way of fulfilling Sadiq Khan’s pledge in his 2024 manifesto

“Work with a Labour Government to put an extra 1,300 neighbourhood police officers and PCSOs on the streets”

Quite literally doing the inverse which is almost impressive as far as breaking a pledge goes

  3. My advice to you all is to not go outside if you don’t need to cause no one’s coming to save you

  4. For everyone getting angry at the headline without reading. This is despite additional funding from central and local government. A decade+ of austerity isn’t solved overnight, no matter what you think of the government’s recent actions/budget decisions.

““The Met announced on Wednesday it has been forced to make “substantial tough choices” *despite being granted extra funding by central and local government*.
Amid these cuts, which will see at least 1,700 members of staff axed, Sir Sadiq Khan has announced a record £1.16 billion City Hall investment in the “chronically underfunded” force.

This will reportedly save 935 neighbourhood police officer posts.

Last year, Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley warned the Met might need to cut 2,300 officers, so any number less than that may be viewed as a win by Scotland Yard.

A Met spokesperson said: “We are very grateful for the additional funding we have received from the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and the Home Office.

“While this new funding decreases our original funding gap from £450m, it leaves us with a £260m shortfall and we will have to make substantial tough choices, reducing our size by over 1,700 officers, staff and PCSOs and therefore our services.” “

  5. Good. 1200 more racist, misogynistic, violent thugs off the streets

Far more effective way to clean up the streets than letting a Govt. militia run rampant to terrorise the public

  6. Not enough police on the beat, response – even less police, result.

  7. Ffs really? The crime is already growing and you do this!
