  1. She got caught taking loans from Russian banks that she used to save her party from insolvency years ago and nobody looked harder into her background until now?

She’s been shady for decades, wonder what prompted people to do their job and look harder at her.

  2. ‘The Law is the same for everyone’…Another sad example of American Exceptionalism

  3. Well done, France! I really hope they put the AfD finances to even more scrutiny here in Germany as well … so many extremist politicians are bought and paid for by Moscow, one way or another.

  4. when François Fillon and Jean-Luc Mélenchon were convicted of public embezzelment, why weren’t they prevented from holding office again if ‘the law is the same for everyone?’

  5. The law is the law. The question is if the law is applied equally across the board or not. If the French people think it is then no problem. If the French people think it’s not been applied equally then it’s a huge problem.

  6. Except for his ministers though.

For Bayroux covering pedophiles, Abad and Darmanin being rapists, Schiappa embezzling funds, the multiple conflicts of interest in his many governments… then the law isn’t the same for everyone.

Cheh for Le Pen but that’s a big claim for the guy running one of the most corrupt governments of the 5th republic (which is already quite the record).

  7. Quite hypocritical and out of place, given how many criminals are in his government, but he’s right

  8. This is how things are supposed to go. The laws were clear before she showed up and everyone agreed on those laws. She broke the law. She will pay the penalty according to those laws. If we expect the highest levels of conduct and performance out of our elected officials, there can be no other way.

  9. “Marine Le Pen was found guilty of embezzlement and barred from running in France’s next presidential election”

I wonder if she’s thought about running in the US?

  10. It is? Can someone let the US know the rules apply to everyone the same?!?

  11. If you or I stole hundreds of thousands of euros from our employer, what would happen to us?
