Hello, I heard that Commerzbank will start charging fees for the Girokonto account. I am new in Germany and just moved in January 2025. I opened my Girokonto with Commerzbank in January, but I would like to know if I am affected by the new fees because I am hearing that people have been getting letters/emails asking for consent to be charged.
Is anyone here in the same case as me?
Thanks and hoping for your responses!

From what I see, people are getting those emails in batches. Not sure why they decided to do it in batches and not all at once. Maybe they wanted to see the impact and stop if it’s too bad.
If you haven’t received an email and if you don’t have a letter in your Commerzbank account, you are safe for now. But keep looking already for a solution as the trend shows that they catch up to everyone eventually.
Everyone who has a Girokonto at Commerzbank is affected and so are you. This topic has been discussed many times on this sub. Do a search and read the comments.
I am using their konto since 2022 as my salary konto, which is free. About 2 weeks ago I received a notice from them stating that if i dont have at least 50.000€ in total on my bank account with them (regular acc/depot/stocks etc) , then i will be paying monthly fees.
Thats nuts.
I received similar letter. Conditions were a bit different. Out of principle I’m not going to pay anyone for lending them my money. So I switched to ING. I was a bit worried about all the SEPA mandates, but surprisingly all of them could be changed online through different customer portals.
