‘It’s going to be difficult to see how this could be enforced’: US expands diversity ban overseas

France’s trade ministry slammed what it described as “unacceptable” US interference after the Trump administration asked French companies holding US government contracts to guarantee their compliance with an executive order banning diversity, equity and inclusion programmes.   1. He’s putting pressure on research bodies here in Australia too. A number of our universities have lost funding on research projects, as has our CSIRO (commonwealth research body).
    This is impacting research on medical areas, hurricane mitigation etc. all because of his obsession with DEI

  2. yes, diversity is good, but telling foreign companies that located and operated in their own countries to follow other country law is not ok

  3. I hope the UK government takes note. There is no appeasing these people. They are fanatical extremists. And they will accept nothing less than total conformity to their agenda. You either stand up to them and fight back, or you capitulate. There is no middle ground

  10. There is no DEI in France. You hire peole for their competence. If they have any disability we adapt the work.
    Being LGBT has been a subject at a time but less and less, we don't care what ppl do at home.

  12. ??? I am so confused. First of we in Europe dont have any DEI Programs basicly like US. This doesnt mean in france or like germany there is no rasicm. Of course there is rasicmn but not like in USA.
    If i have right understud. Trump want to be enforce Anti DEI and want promote more rasicmen….
    Well who want than work in farms, drive trucks, clean toilet and doing the low income jobs? Me not…
    DEI is in US context important and right, but in sometimes in Movies,séries or historical context it is sometimes a bit strange and not fit in the setting.

  23. Simple solution, they only speak french when dealing with the US, even if they're bi or multi-lingual
    Since english is a second language in france, folk who use english could be considered DEI hires

  25. Im not the biggest fan of DEI, I think of companies want to do the right thing their focus should be more on treating their employees and customers well rather than DEI (and they might use DEI to get away with some bad stuff), but even I Agree thats overstepping authority.
