Trump, and by extension America, is acting like a spoiled rich teenager, understanding nothing, smashing the very structures that enabled his position.
Why does America think that its 300m people can match the billions of consumers outside its borders? If they want to be poor let them.
Tons of emerging markets to offset the loss trade with the US. Factories will never return to America and globalization cannot be replaced. The world is already too interconnected and developed to return to 1800s trading.
Unless the Americans realize that fact they are only making themselves less competitive in the global market.
I think it would be more accurate to say that Trump is writing America out of the global economic system.
After tariffs he probably gonna make everything crypto, so no one gonna print money anymore, either papers, coins, cheques, and credits
So probably no more Reserve Bank
