“Mazon said that Britons are the main source of wealth in Alicante Province, indicating that tourism in Costa Blanca is significantly dependent on UK citizens that decide to spend their holidays there.”
Lol
>Since the UK is no longer part of the EU, travellers reaching Spain or any other Member State are no longer permitted entry by only presenting an identity card.
Hasn’t this always been the case? British citizens can only travel to places within the TCA (UK, Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man) without a passport. And I don’t think we’ve ever been part of the EU identity card scheme.
Anyways sounds like great news for those that don’t fancy a British winter!
It had to be Mazón, ofc lmao. How about we transform Alicante into a relevant port like it used to be instead of trying to bring cheap tourism into the town?
I don’t understand. The Regional president asked the Spanish ambassador to the UK to extend the visa free entry period of British citizens ?
A decision which can only be changed in Madrid ?
So basically non news ?
My parents live there albeit my father is Spanish, my mother Scottish. The amount of people from the UK there is insane. You need to travel a bit into the wilderness and smaller little villages so to speak to find the natives.
Nether the ambassador has the power to change the legislation or the length of time UK nationals can stay, nor the stay of foreigners a competence of a “Diputación”. If UK nationals want an extended stay, they will have to apply for it and meet the requirements regardless of the will of the ambassador and the politician.
